Golf 101 with Cathy Kim: What is a closed stance?
When you set up with a closed golf stance, the golf swing will often times follow the direction of your feet. As a novice golfer, it's very important that you understand the differences of how you stand over the ball.
Here are the definitions for a square stance, open stance and closed stance.
- Square Stance: When your feet are lined up parallel with your ball line and the target.
- Closed Stance: When your trail foot (the one furthest from the target) is slightly staggered back.
- Open Stance: When your lead foot (the one closest to the target) is slightly staggered back. You can read my open stance article here.
